I really like this image above, i want to try and imitate it. I love the colourfulness of the background but also the planeness of the actual character.

Disneys interoperation of chinese art is a real inspiration.

These are some images i made in a chinese style. I made them on photoshop and overlaid a faint pattern to make them look more like classic paintings. Im considering doing my animation in this way, because i like the simplistic style of it.

 It took me quite a while to get the tree right on these two bottom images. I wanted to it be a classic sakura tree, but some of my earlier designs i felt were too spindly. I thought giving it a large trunk would help in making it look better. It needs to look supportive because later in my animation he climbs it and adds more things to it.

I made the stars by paintbrush splatters to make it look more like a painting.
